for the future
OUR VISION is to improve the long-term health prospects of all young children in the UK by encouraging the adoption of active, happy and healthy habits.
This will measurably reduce the burden on the NHS purse, increase the learning capacity of children in the classroom and increase awareness of the impact of outdoor physical activity on our environment.
Volunteer-lead projects within local communities will support our whole-community approach to being active, in order to grow stronger and therefore more useful.
All children under the age of twelve who complete our Roots Physical Activity Courses will have adopted the tools they need to move into their teenage years feeling stronger when facing challenges, wiser when making difficult decisions, calmer when facing adversary, confident in setting their limits high and more understanding of how they can be purposeful and useful to themselves, their family, friends, community and environment.
* Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure. Physical inactivity has been identified as the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality causing an estimated 3.2 million deaths globally. Regular moderate intensity physical activity reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, colon and breast cancer, and depression. Moreover adequate levels of physical activity will decrease the risk of a hip or vertebral fracture and help control weight. (World Health Organisation).
Our PURPOSE/ AIM is to make physical activity better for families, better for individuals, better for the environment, better for the future of sport, better for the health of people and better for economies. We aim to change the way society thinks about physical activity bringing it in line with 21st century cultural change.
Our MISSION is to connect people and organisations from multiple sectors and to promote measurable and continual improvements to the environment, community cohesion and economic growth.
