Our Philosophy.

The whole picture

Who are we?

We are a team of professionals dedicated to putting something different on the table - a physical activity developed entirely from the child’s perspective.

Roots programmes have been built around numerous factors that contribute to how families are able to lead happy and healthy lifestyles in the present era. This is a whole picture approach that goes well beyond the physical. Economically, this makes sense. It is not a concept that is easily understood in sport, but, one that we have always known to be vital in achieving our aim to develop a baseline activity that gives children pre-thirteen, the knowledge and skills they need to continue being active after that age. With this in place, whole family and community participation will follow.

The ENVIRONMENT
& WHERE ROOTS
TAKES PLACE

The single most important factor in building the foundations for long-term whole family and community partnerships in physical activity programmes. The landscape of an area can have a positive impact on our communities and how we use and maintain our town parks and village greens for physical activity, be it running a mile, planting flower beds or training in Roots, contributes to the achievement of this.

EDUCATION AND
WHAT WE TEACH

Roots can support curriculum needs for teachers, mentally stimulate children for learning and give PE coordinators the choice to follow fully inclusive base-line physical activity. Much more than that though, it is ‘how’ we deliver our roots courses that matters to both the children and parents so we can inspire and motivate them to be autonomous, resilient and purposeful.

HEALTH AND WHY
WE TRAIN IN ROOTS

To be physically strong is key in helping us make positive lifestyle choices relative to, for example, work, family and diet. If we are ‘fit’, decision-making becomes easier. Taking the first step to becoming fit is one of the most difficult, in particular, if mental health issues and stress play a part. By holding hands, families are able to grow stronger together for both individual health and family relationships. We believe critical life-long lessons are learnt here for parents with children under the age of thirteen. Roots has been designed to accommodate these needs.

Sports, physical activity

AND HOW WE COACH

We set out to give parents with young children a better deal – a baseline physical activity that gives all children the underlying confidence and skills they need pre-thirteen, to continue being active after that age. Roots delivers this and much more. It also gives less-confident young people and adults an easy step into re-engaging with physical activity so they can then go on to follow a sport of their choice. Ironically, elite members of families and young people also love the thrill of a Roots challenge. Roots is not a twisted version of an existing sport. Roots is the ultimate family physical activity.

LIFELONG LESSONS ARE
LEARNT AT ROOTS.
